Queensrÿche with Fates Warning at the Plaza Live Orlando 3-2-19
Queensrÿche has embarked on The Verdict World Tour with the opening night at the sold out Plaza Live in Orlando, FL the day after the release of their new album, The Verdict on March 1, 2019. This was my first time seeing the band live with Florida native Todd La Torre on vocals and I was blown away. The range, power and control was as good as if not perhaps better than original lead singer Geoff Tate who’s signature sound filled my younger years. They played mostly songs from the most current records and a few of the older fan favorites. It was nice to see that Todd doesn’t try to copy Geoff but puts his own twist on Queensrÿche classics and he does them well. He is an amazing singer in his own right and a fabulous frontman who knows how to rock a crowd. The group closed off an impressive performance with “Empire” one of my long time favorites.

Fates Warning is often credited as one of the so called “Big Three” of the genre, along with Queensrÿche and Dream Theater; namely, the bands who are most responsible for prog metal’s creation, developing and popularization. Progressive Metal pioneers Fates Warning continue promoting their new live album “Live Over Europe”, recently released via InsideOutMusic worldwide.
